A comfortable pub with a large roaring open fire on our visit, which is situated on the left hand side of the bar area. The interior was as expected oak ceiling beams, flagstone floors and solid oak bar. Four pumps serving Ludlow Gold and Hobsons Old Prickly. Very close to the railway station, literally a 3 min walk, so a handy last pit stop before getting the train.

An olde worlde look and feel to this pub and a fairly pleasant place for a drink. There are a couple of rooms bit I only went into the smallish front bar. Quite dark inside and a number of low beams. A pleasant enough beer garden is out back and a river is just over the fence. The pub is smaller than it looks from the outside. 4 handpulls with Wye Valley and Ludlow beers. It'd just down the road from the Brewery Tap. Nice enough.

Well described by Soup Dragon above. I too didn't venture into the further reaches of the pub, sitting as we did in the well wooded front room. Fairly early on an October Saturday lunchtime, the Unicorn filled up with a largely middle aged crowd of drinkers and diners and their dogs. It didn't really strike us as more of a restaurant:our meals were sustaining, though we didn't make use of the dining rooms. Likewise, the beer-I had a slightly hazy Ludlow Best-was reasonable if not awesome.
As befits a pub of this age, the floor is somewhat sloping, and I felt as if I was sitting in a hole. Good for the soul.

This is a terraced pub, much of it in a white painted brick exterior, but it has a coach entrance that has a black timber and white jettied frontage above. It is said to date to the c17th. The interior has a couple of rooms, but i didn't see the Oak Room at the back. The main room is in wood panel, stone, brick, with a wood floor and a stone fireplace. It has the odd picture, hanging hops with the gloom being pierced by the candles on the tables. There is no TV and the music was soft. The service was fine and a few mature couples were in. It really feels like a restaurant, and the prices reflected that, hence we had to go outside into the nice riverside patio area. Beer; Wye Valley HPA, Salopian Gold and Ludlow Best, which was more than decent. Sadly, I would felt out of place drinking with a friend at a table with a candle on in the middle of the day - sorry, but I felt it was too much a restaurant feel. I would definitely bring Mrs Soup here though!
