Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Stables Inn

Basic pub with a narrow bar along the frontage and a side room branching off from the far end. Functional semi-modern furniture and limited decoration. Hobson's Best Bitter and Ludlow Gold (£3.90, but 'end of the barrel').

Ian Mapp left this review about The Stables Inn

Cravens Arms a little bit of a pub desert. The eponymous pub is now looking very forlorn, all boarded up since it closed during covid.

Passing through for the first time in 4 years, I tried to see if there was an alternative. This site had the Stables down as closed, but Google Maps looked more positive, with opening hours. An investigation required and I bring (unusual) positive news.

A long L Shaped room around the bar. Football on a TV at the end of the room. A handful of locals, their dogs and their kids on social club style seating/tables.

Beer wise - a Ludlow Gold and a Hobsons Bitter. Never sure of the turnover, and therefore the quality, I was a little concerned the sparkler was added to the Hobsons Bitter tap.... suggesting, I may be the first punter of the day. Nothing to fear, it was a fine pint. Home made scotch eggs a bonus.

One other hotel/inn in town, which I may have to try in four years time. Although my research has suggested plans have been submitted for the Craven Arms to turn into first floor accommodation with a new pub below. Something needs to happen to the building.
