Komakino . left this review about The Windrush Inn

A fair old stomp from the town centre (and just under five mins by car), this largish post-war pub is in the food-oriented camp, and whilst it has all the trappings of a Hungry Horse-esque establishment, actually seems to offer food of decent quality (a one-page menu, including 28-day aged steaks). A horseshoe-shaped bar faces you upon entry, with a pool table in the area to the left, a bar area to the right, then a designated restaurant further on from that in an extended area towards the back, which offer scenes of part of the Windrush valley. There's the usual keg favourites available, as well as Doom Bar and Abbot Ale, on two of the three handpumps (a third was unclipped). The Abbot was palatable and chimed in at £1.85 for a half-pint, but there's little here to make the place stand out as unique, although there's some bumpf on one of the walls about The Beatles once having eaten here which is worth a cursory scan: which is ironic, as after reading it, it was time for me to get back and take the long and winding road home.
