Another Oxfordshire shut then open case - important as the nearby Pearl is in essence a Chinese restaurant with a bar. A Cotswold stone-type build just off a mini green, this has an L-shaped interior with bar facing centre-right. Homely, with part-carpeted floor, crockery hanging from ceiling beams a stone fireplace with logs piled up in an alcove next to, as well as cabinets with Toby jug displays. Three ales from four pumps (one unclipped) - Wychwood Hobgoblin, Vale Brill Gold and Skinner's Betty Stogs. £3.80 for the Vale and in decent nick. This is almost the archetypal Oxfordshire village pub bar a couple of annoyances: a jukebox (unnecessary) and two TVs, either end of the "L" - one showing a PL match and one showing PL Rugby Union. The latter was on loud with the football on silent. I'd have accepted both on mute, but combined with the jukebox randomly playing songs after a few minutes downtime, meant the ambience was lost somewhat.
