Currently the sole pub in the village after the fire at the nearby Bell putting it out of action for the foreseeable future. A former Halls Brewery charge, with the plaque of its former master embedded into the Cotswold stone by its entrance, this was in GK's hands until recently. It now appears to be a free house and offered Loddon Hoppit and Ramsbury Gold on two of its four handpumps. A rectangular-ish area is entered into with the bar facing, seating in both bay windows either side of the entrance door with a semi-secluded area to the far right, fireplace to the left and an area through a doorway at a right-angle to the bar which housed a Carvery doing a roaring trade the last time I visited. Ironically, this was roaring with the well-heeled on my Sunday evening visit, if the accents and marques in the car park had anything to do with it (and the long, kissed goodbyes as they all started to depart). It's probably a lot better than this visit made out, so maybe one for a summer revisit. Note that the Gents are outside the building - OK for the summer months obviously but not for the height of winter.
