Komakino . left this review about The Plough Inn

A thatched, whitewashed building just off the main road through the village this was purchased by the community a couple of years ago and is now, pleasingly, a free house, allowing a mouthwatering four ale palate of Durham New Term, Navigation Patriot, Loddon Hoppit and Elgood's Cunning Stunt (the latter of which was in the best possible taste). The rectangular interior has had a makeover and isn't as traditional as you would have hoped, but it retains its original beams and stone fireplaces. The front entrance takes you into the bottom corner of the interior where a carpeted, sunken area with dartboard against the right-hand wall lifts up a step to the bare-boarded bar area, with a couple of bar stools and small table hemming in the box-shaped bar. An area to the bar's left is commandeered for dining, but the more than convivial landlord informed me that he was 'chef down' at the moment. No muzak which lead to a pleasant ambience with just the sound of pub conversations and I had a good chat with the guv'nor who informed my he has free reign on what beers he gets in and from where. With a bit more fanfare, this could become a destination venue.
