The pub has been taken over by Bath Ales and refurbished. The interior is now brighter and a little more modern in appearance, which in my opinion rather spoils the previous rather cosy feel to the pub. All of the Theatre memorabilia and posters have been removed which is also a big shame. On the plus side a good choice of Bath Ales products is available which is a welcome addition to the already wide selection of ales available in Oxford. A good drinking pub but now not as good as it was for atmosphere.

Great pub to look round as you drink and has a lot of charm. Had Green King Westgate AlePril Fool and Atlas Golden Amber, both in good condition.

Proper pub , friendly staff , regulars up for a laugh , beer good (4 cask) , walls covered in posters from nearby theatre , strange tables on one side need bar stools to sit at , a proper boozer and better than a lot of some more famous Oxford pubs

I popped in for a quick pint but ended up staying for a few more as I really liked this pub. Like most good pubs there were various characters drinking here, from the Oxford professor to the toothless West Country labourer that I had some banter with.

The booze was great with a good selection of ale and the staff were professional. Whilst I was in there a group of 50 students came in for one of their pub crawl stop-offs and I was rueing the fact that I had not bought a drink before. Thankfully the barmaid had spotted that I had been in the pub for a while and was not part of the group and was served almost immediately, well done that girl!!

When I'm back in Oxford I will definitely make a point of revisiting this place again.
