Komakino . left this review about The Chequers

Looking at the livery out front, unashamedly Greene King, which extended to the ale selection (just IPA available from 4 pumps: one of which had an Old Golden Hen clip reversed). The interior is a large area, more akin to a club than a pub, with the bar against the back wall. The area is carpeted throughout without with country kitchen-style wooden tables and chairs. Various books are dotted around the windowsills and shelves and there's a patio area out back with a decent beer garden further on, bookended by a kiddies' play area at the end. It's cosy enough and some of the menu choices and specials sounded tempting, but a real ale or two would bump the score up a notch or two.
