I called in just after opening time, which is 5pm. Or at least it was at the time of my visit, but the couple that had run the place for 17 years were retiring that weekend and who knows what changes the new owners might make? The beer on offer was Caledonian Deuchars IPA and Edinburgh Castle (80/-). There's live sports TV in one room, and regular TV in the other, "for those who like to sit and talk", according to the landlady. My experience of TV in pubs is that people either stare at the bloody screen without saying a word to each other, or else just totally ignore the goggle box. I hope the new regime do away with it altogether!

An incredibly quick visit on a Saturday night as I needed to tick it but still had the Galway to do before I left town.

The pub doesn't look open from the outside and you could easily assume its not and move on. I went into the bar on the right as you enter from the main road, 2 friendly punters at the bar watching the football on the television.

I was in a rush so I grabbed a half of Holt's Two Hoots, there was also another ale on but I didn't make a note of it.

As I say a flying visit that barely lasted 10 minutes, seems a decent little pub though and my ale was very pleasant.

The Brick and Tile is a proper old school pub that is situated just off the town centre.
Once inside the pub has got two seperate room with a central bar serving both i had a drink in the lounge as this was the room which had the pumps in it,this room was fairly small and was carpeted and had bench seating and normal tables and chairs, the bar looked similar to the lounge but there was a pool table in this room.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Idle Lovely Jubbly and this was a very nice well kept drink the other beer was Idle Idle Dog.
This is a proper unalterd pub that i quite liked,i had a friendly chat with the landlord who said the North Nottinghamshire Camra crew had been in and also liked the pub,it was a shame that the pub was empty at about 12.30 on a Saturday dinner.

Revisited and the pub still seems the same, but quite busy on a Saturday afternoon.
There were still two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of John Smiths Cask, which was a very nice drink, the other beer was Deuchars IPA.
