The White Horse was our first pub on a crawl round the seven pubs of Ruddington. Originally an old cosey local the white horse has been drastically modernized in recent times and the left side “lounge” is more of a restaurant for fine dining gastro type food. The right has side is still the bar area and has hard wood floors and a modern decor and paint job. I don’t really like it when pubs do this but it’s the fashion now and this is one of the more tasteful refurbs but still don’t compete with the old world traditional pub feel that is much better in my opinion. The pub was very busy on my Saturday night visit and was standing room only in the bar’s there is quite a limited amount of seating. We stood near the real log fire which was a lovely addition on a cold night. The bar serves both rooms from either side and has three hand pulls on each side that I believe usually have different beers on. Unfortunately on this visit this was limited to only three with a rather boring choice of Doombar, the ever present harvest pale and a guest from Adnams called Jingle Shells. All were priced at a slightly pricey £3.50 a pint but the jingle shells was in a superb condition so at least they look after the beers well. I think this turned out to be the most expensive bee of the night but was not to terrible. This was a good place to begin our crawl and the beer was good, I can’t help but think how good this place would have been before the refurb but that’s out of my hands. Worth a visit.

This pub was the best of the day and worthy of it's entry in the 2013 Good Beer Guide. A central bar serves 2 rooms and we went into the comfortable lounge. Theakstons Lightfoot, Nottingham Rock Bitter, Everards Tiger, Black Sheep Bitter and Belvoir Dark Horse available and we really enjoyed our beers. Food was being served and we checked timing for the bus, and managed to have a some soup which was a bargain at £2.95. Good menu but we had bus time restrictions. The 63 bus runs there from Keyworth to Queens Medical Centre past Clifton. It used to connect to Beeston but new operator doesn't go that far. There is a Ruddington Connection bus to Nottingham.

The White Horse used to be an Home Ales tied house.
This pub has still got two rooms i went in the left room Which is quite large and was the lounge, this room was quite nice and was carpeted and there was lots of proper pub seating.
There were three real ales on here i had a drink of Nottingham Centurian ND this was a darkish drink that was really nice the other beers were Nottingham Extra Pale Ale, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin, Bombadier and Old Speckled Hen.
I thought this was a really nice comfortable pub and i would have been happy staying in here all afternoon.
