This is a former Kimberly tied house that like their other pubs became Greene king after the takeover. This is a horrible corporate Hungry Horse pub with cheap meals and lots of family’s dining. The decor is the generic Greene king crapo with no distinguishing features inside. There is a large two sided l shaped bar that has a selection of hand pulls on each but these are repeated. The last reviewer must have called in on the same day I did (or maybe their beer selection is so dull that it never changes. I too was faced with the great prospects of the GK range of IPA, Hardy & Hanson’s Abbot, Old Speckled Hen and Olde Trip, I believe they occasionally get a bit more of a selection inn whether it be other GK beers or some guest but not on my visit. I too went for the hardy and Hanson’s bitter that was at least well kept (£2.40) and a dam sight more so than the Sherwood manor (another hungry horse pub). I have never much like coming here because of its generic corporate baldness and drab beer section but on a hot sunny day especially when the festival is on on Wollaton Park there is a rather nice outside area with lots of tables which can be rather enjoyable. This is a very basic family boozer that does exactly what is says on the tin but should you ever find yourself here you can at least get a passible beer even if it is GK. I’d pick the other pubs in the surrounding area over this one but on a hot sunny day it’s not the worst place in the world.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Wheelhouse

(Reasonably) modern version of a roadhouse, with an unusual curved façade. Functional furniture and decor, but plenty of patio seating outside for the better weather. Standard Hungry Horse menu. Two banks of five handpumps, with Greene King IPA, Hardy & Hansons (£2.40), Abbot, Old Speckled Hen and Olde Trip on offer when I called in.

The Wheelhouse is a strange shaped pub because it is round it used to be an Home Ales tied house.
Kimberley brewery took over this pub then Greene King to over them, when we went in here there were three real ales on the bar we had Kimberley bitter there was also GK IPA and another GK product i car'nt remember.
The pub is quite smart inside with one large lounge type room there is also plenty of seats at the front of the pub if you want to watch the traffic go by.
