Will Larter left this review about The Red Lion

Quite a good looking building on approach, but it's pretty standard fare inside, with a sports bar feel to it and only Old Speckled Hen on hand pump. This is too sweet for me these days, but in the absence of an alternative I was able to drink a half without too much trouble. This was the 10th pub on my Alan Winfield Memorial Pub Crawl, and as it turned out therefore half way.

Tried It. Did I like it left this review about The Red Lion

Pub now closed after a number of failed attempts by multiple managers. time will tell if this is temporary or permanent.

Well described by Mr Winfield, lager fonts dominated the bar with just a single handpump dispensing the undistinguished Old Trip which resulted in a very swift visit despite the friendly welcome.Quite a laddish atmosphere.

The Red Lion is in the centre of Sandiacre next to the busy crossroads and across the road from the Erewash canal.
This was a Kimberley tied house untill Greene King took over, this is a largish stern looking victorian pub which still has a seperate bar and lounge, the bar has a pool table at the end of this narrowish room the lounge is a bit bigger and is carpeted.
There are a couple of real ales on with Kimberley Bitter now brewed by GK and also Greene King IPA.
The pub is up for let at the moment.
