The Willow tree is Located on the busy Nottingham road and has recently had a large external facelift. This to my knowledge is owned by the Stadium leisure social club across the road and acts as an extension of their dining wing with this being a very food orientated pub. On entering the bar is to the left and faces the drinking area with a full dining room to the Back of the pub. There are still menus on the bar area tables so food can still be ordered and ate in the “drinking area” The pub was very quiet on my Thursday evening visit and only the bar area was filled with a few diners and a few enjoying a drink. This is not a boozer and gets more of a family/couple types in with no tv screens or games machines which is a welcome sight. The pub is quite nicely furnished with carpets throughout and has quite a warm and welcoming atmosphere if not a little generic and chain like. We were greeted by a very welcoming Scotsman at the bar who poured us a pint of Theakston’s beer that had been re badged and called willow tree ale, this was on both the two pumps so just this or the usual keg stuff to choose from. This was the most expensive pint of the evening at £3.45 and was a very acceptable but not tip top and had a bit of a hoppy taste that is not my usual preference but still nice enough. I don’t really like pubs that focus of diner’s rather than drinkers but this was a very acceptable place to have a pint, I wouldn’t stay all night but served its purpose fine for a quick pint in a crawl.

When i went in this pub it was called the Haven and it was one of three pubs on this short stretch of road.
The pub was a typical 60s built pub that looked a bit out of place on this road, once inside the pub had two rooms with a decent bar and a smart lounge.
The pub was a Shipstones tied house and there were two real ales on the bar,i have only been in this pub a few times and the Shipstones bitter was always a nice drink the other beer was Shipstones mild.
It is nice to see this pub still up and running.
