Alan Winfield left this review about The Gondola

The Gondala was built to serve the notorious Balloon Woods estate,a large estate of mid height flats.
The pub looked unusual and different to most estate pubs i have been in,with it being almost circular.
Once inside there was a smartish single lounge type room which had bench seating and normal tables and chairs, there was also room upstairs which had lots of windows to see views of the city.
The pub was an Home Ales tied house when i first visited it,there were no real ales on the bar,so it was a drink of keg Home Ales bitter which was pretty poor.
This was very much a locals pub.
The flats became too much of a problem for Nottingham City Council,so they were pulled down in the late 80s.
The Gondala still stands to this day,i think it is some sort of Indian restaurant, not sure if there is a bar to this though.
