Alan Winfield left this review about Admiral Duncan

The Admiral Duncan looked like a 30s built pub and it was situated on lower parliament street and had a rear entrance on cranbrook street.
Once inside there was a long corridor linking the two rooms the lounge was at the front this room seemed to have a disco permanantly set up in one corner, this room was carpeted and fairly smart the bar was at the rear and this room was very basic with slatted wooden bench seating and a few normal tables and chairs.
The pub used to be a Ansells tied house and it had keg Ansells beers on the bar i always had the bitter which was a very fizzy cold drink.
I have been in this pub on a number of occasions and always enjoyed my time in here.
Over the years this pub gained a gay following and gradually went downhill untill closure.
