Steve C left this review about The Wheatsheaf

There was only one other person in the Wheatsheaf during a recent Thursday evening visit, although to be honest the whole town was pretty quiet. There is seating in the widows either side of the entrance and the bar counter runs up the right. Standard keg and Birra Moretti were the draught options. There is a dartboard and a pool table. Out the back is a large beer garden with a concreted seating area that leads onto some fake grass. I didn’t see anything in here that would have me rushing back.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Wheatsheaf

Back to its original name, but this attractive-looking pub has had one or more interior makeovers that have stripped out any character it might once have had. A basic beer garden can also be found out back. However, the (already limited) real ale offering has gone too, and with little else to choose from, the John Smith's (just £2.10) was the least-worst option. Minor plus point: the landlady was friendly enough.

Decent enough pub but only weak real ale. I had a cider @ 4.9% which was nice enough.

Alan Winfield left this review about Clay Tavern

When i first did this pub it was called The Wheatsheaf and was a John Smiths tied house with no real ales on.

The Clay Tavern is situated just off the main shopping area and once inside it has been opened out into one single room, the bar is on the right side, the floor bare boarded and the seating is bench type and small stools, there are tall tables and chairs in the middle of the room, there is a darts board to the mid left and a pool table to the rear left.
There were three real ales on,we had a drink of Banks's Sunbeam which went down well, the other real ales were Hobgoblin and Marstons EPA.
The TV to the front right was showing horse racing.
There is a decent garden to the rear which was busy.
We thought this was a decent enough pub to have a drink in.

TERRY DALES left this review about Wheatsheaf Inn

Looks nice from the outside, but the interior is dark and dismal.
I like pubs with character, this one certainly hasn't any.
Won't be visiting again.
Two stars only because it was near Christmas and I was in a good mood
