One of Old English Inns outlets from Greene King. Very attractive looking both inside and out. Set out more for food, so not really a drinkers paradise.

My favorite Pub visited, I think the staff are great and have had many a laugh with them, the venue is amazing one time I was in there a famous 1966 footballer was in there, I was told its his local, there is a car park but it only caters for about 3 cars and a narrow entrance so best to park on the big car park by the island and walk up over the bridge keep left then at the top turn left into middle street you will see the black bull sign about 75 yards in on the right hand side. The beer is GK, plenty of tables inside be aware there are steps, as I understand there is access for the disabled, food menu seems reasonably priced and is set to the Greene King standard. Please take time to study the tapestry of Adrians wall its interesting. WELL WORTH A VISIT FAMILY FRIENDLY DC.........

This is a 2010 Good Beer Guide pub, but more set up for food than as a bar. Only a few tables not set out for diners. Quirky area close to the ladies with an outside alcove only big enough for a couple of large pots of plants. Doesn,t go anywhere so a well used space. They do have an enclosed garden area. Three Greene King beers and Black Sheep bitter, so had the Black Sheep which was well served. Food looked a bit pricey.
