Blue Scrumpy left this review about Tankerville Arms

Very nicely appointed village pub which is very dark inside, but has the feeling of a country house with traditional furniture and attractive paintings. The garden at the rear has some lovely green grass (when the rest of the country's grass has died) and is next to a farm, with a small field containing lots of sheep just behind.

Food seems to be popular here, but there are also 3 real ales. Hadrian Border Tyneside Blonde is the regular beer. Guests were Secret Kingdom (also from Hadrian Border) & Rigg & Furrow Run Hop Run, exactly the same as for the last contributor.

Graham Coombs left this review about Tankerville Arms

A splendid old stone built pub which has largely been given over to restaurant but retains a bar area and a beer garden behind. The stone-floored interior is tastefully furnished and decorated with antiques rather than junk. The ales seemed very well kept: Hadrian Secret Kingdom, Rigg & Furrow Run Hop Run and Tyneside Blonde. The food was ok but not quite up to expectations.

So glad I planned our route so well, as I wouldn't want to miss this one out. Once through the door you enter the main bar and lounge. The room was low timber beams, with the bar facing you as you enter, which had an aged pine panelled front and a mahogany counter. The pub was tastefully decorated in keeping with its period. The owner's wife is an antique dealer, so the interior is a collection of sought after paintings and various ornaments. There was also a various collection of tables and chairs, throughout the pub leading into the dining area at the far end. The young barmaid on our visit was friendly and chatty. There were three hand pumps, two from Hadrian and Border and a Tyneside Blonde, which was excellent. There was a wood burning stove either end of the main lounge, so I can imagine this to be a cosy pub in winter.

A charming country inn dating from 1851, nestling in the picturesque Northumbrian village of Eglingham. On our visit we had a pint of Wylam ‘Spring Thing’ and a very enjoyable meal. It has accommodation of three en-suite bedrooms and is doggie friendly. The pub is listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2011.
