An aged, attractive Tudor building, incongruously surrounded by a thundering through-road and a nasty car park. Two very distinct rooms inside, separated by a narrow bar area. This small bar greets you on entering with a myriad of pumps, though only four were on and a fairly safe line-up of GK Abbot, GK London Glory, Tribute, Adnams Ghost Ship (decent nick) with polite service. Look out for carved wood lion heads on lower bar covering. The left room has a tiled floor, black beamed ceiling, leaded windows, some bench seating and button back sofas along with TV sport. Through a door on the right of the bar is a high vaulted ceiling baronial-style room with dark wood panelling, a mini suit of armour, a jumbo gold framed mirror and a minstrels gallery - quite a spectacle. It’s worth a visit this one; shame the beer range wasn’t a bit more diverse.

This pub is clearly a very old building. Inside it is a single room with low ceilings and a red tiled floor. To the right as you enter is an opulent looking dining room.
The bar has eight hand pumps but with only five in use. Beers available were London Pride, Tribute, Ghost Ship, Elgood's Saturday Night Beaver and Slater's Queen Bee. I went for the Slater's Queen Bee (£3.60 reduced to £3.24 with the CAMRA Discount). This was in very good condition. Although it's a bit food orientated this is a nice old pub and well worth a visit. It is GBG 2015 listed.

Ye Golden Lion is a really nice looking pub that is at the bottom end of town.
Once inside i went into a squarish shaped room to the front left, the room was divided into two areas by a wall, the bar faced, there was comfy bench seating and normal tables and chairs to the front, two chesterfield settees were to the far left, the floor was tiled, the ceiling beamed, the TV was showing the Rugby.
There was a seperate room to the right which was in use for a birthday party with a proper punch and judy show on.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of St Austell Tribute which was a decent enough drink, the other beers were Adnams Ghost Ship and London Pride.
This was a decent and comfortable pub to have a drink in.
