An Everards pub in a pretty village. Rocked up on Saturday for opening time but apart from chef who was sat outside smoking, there was nobody else around and the place was locked up until quarter past (to be fair to chef, she did go and try and rouse the landlady, who was completely unapologetic about making us wait). It’s an unexpectedly large place inside, an L shaped bar area with a plush and newly-decorated carpeted rear room. Whilst it’s obviously modernised inside there’s still a fair bit of rustica (some exposed brick and stone walls, real fire) and we liked the wall decal of a map of old Weedon. I didn’t see Northamptonshire skittles, as mentioned elsewhere. It was notably clean and tidy. To the rear is a nice grassed garden with kids play area and a few trees. Just two Everards ales at the bar - Beacon and Tiger – which both drank well. It’s a decent place that does some things very well but I didn’t leave as satisfied as I expected.

ORIGINAL REVIEW March 2013
An Everards tied house,my guess is that this status is relatively new as the pubsigns give no clue as to the brewery ownership. The front door opens into a lounge area with Northamptionshire skittles ,a flat screen, low ceiling and a double sided fireplace which also services a restaurant area on the other side. The lights were off on the restaurant side and there was no sign of food, but with work going on to the private side of the pub,the food offerering may be a work in progresss. The bar itself is in the rear section with a few tables and chairs ,a fruit machine and another Sky Sports flat screen. The four handpumps were offering Tiger (£3.10 and on top form),Original and Beacon on my trip, and the welcome was warm and chatty. There is free wifi and a quiz on Wednesdays.
Although the decor is bland ,this would be my boozer of choice in Weedon on the strength of the excellent ale on offer from Everards.I expect it to be lively when televised sport is on,and its popular with the locals already.I will be returning when next in Weedon, this pub could easily be a candidate for the next GBG.

UPDATE
Everards have now completed an internal refurb without really enhancing the interior. The entrance leads to the low ceiling lounge with a fine photo of the Victorian barracks along one wall but the fireplace stood unused on a cold night. The area around the bar has lost the few seats that were there previously to be replaced by a juke box, itself turned off on my visit. However the four Everards ales were all in very fine nick ,and that is the main justification for calling in here,so get supping.Still the best pub in Weedon by a long chalk.

There hasn't been a pub serving good beer in Weedon for a long time so discovering that everards have taken on The Plume of Feathers was a pleasant surprise.
It's an old, crooked, painted building with exposed brick and beam walls inside. I'd guess that it's only recently been taken over as only the bar area was really lit with a large room to the left full of tables but in the dark and no sign of food. My guess is though that this will soon change and it may well become popular.
Beer was all Everards - Tiger, Old Original and Beacon of which the Tiger was excellent.
There's a large garden outside complete with a good sized climbing frame adorned in Northampton Saints colours so this place gets my vote.
