Steve C left this review about The Shire Horse

The Shire Horse consists of a bar counter to the left of the entrance and seating down the right to a stage at the rear where a rock band was playing. The bar supports two banks of five hand pumps that were drawing Hopback’s Summer Lightening, Boewolf Brewery’s Dark Raven, Wychwood’s Hobgoblin Gold and three offerings from Pot Belly Brewery. Premium keg and Carlsberg were also available. For a midweek evening there was a fine ensemble of oddballs gathered, however I’m not a big live music fan so it wasn’t for me.

Mild Drinker left this review about The Shire Horse

Popped in here on Boxing Day and wasn't disappointed. Small bar area immediately when you enter the front door, and greeted by a friendly barmaid. Good selection of local ales from Potbelly. I tried a London Stout which was lovely, and a Summer Lightning which was also refreshing. The pub doesn't look much from the outside, but is well worth a visit. Very oldy worldy inside but it has a lot of character. Also has a nice beer garden along the side and back of the pub. One to revisit.
