As described by K below. Friendly service when we doubled the paying custom on a weekday lunchtime, beer range majored on Doombar. Seemed a bit sterile and chunky furniture didn't suggest comfort. Nice to sit outside though. Not a destination pub but I'd be happy if it was my local. I'd be even happier if it was still called The Bell.

Small knocked-through pub which still retains its two small counters, serving Otter Bitter, Shepherd Neame Spitfire (the old pump clip) and Young's Bitter: the latter for a reasonable £3.40 a pint. The area to the left on entry is bare-boarded with a hanging, rendered ceiling supported by a central wooden beam bar stools and a couple of tan leather sofas. Third-height mushroom-coloured wood panelling with fancy wallpaper above. The room to the right is flagstone floored with a mixture of semi-settled bench seats against the right-hand wall and circular and rectangular tables and pub chairs. Part exposed stone wall, render and wallpaper this side and the chamfered bar counter is slightly larger on this side. The Young's Bitter was very well-kept and the area to the left was commandeered by a clutch of well-natured locals talking football talk. Food appears to be limited to pizza - a chalkboard on entry is headed "Bellissimo Pizza", and lists 10 options. Note that only one ale is available on the left-hand bar counter (Young's on my visit), so don't be afraid to walk around to your right to explore further options.
