The usual comprehensive review from PSM and I can't add anything to the description of the pub. We visited twice during our 2 night stay in Whitby and found the staff to be very friendly. Once during the afternoon and then the following night when different staff were on. I had 3 beers here, two from the onsite Lady Luck brewery and all 3 were in good nick, so no complaints from me about the beer. We'll certainly all in next time we're in Whitby.

A short but steep walk up the hill from the harbour, this is a multiple roomed pub that’s been opened out a little and given a bit of a tidy up, creating quite an unusual mix of modern and traditional. You enter to the main bar area via a short passageway, with the servery to the right and ample seating to the left and further towards the rear of the room. The space feels quite bright, even when visiting in the evening, thanks to light coloured floorboards, plenty of lighting and whitewashed walls mixed with a few bits of dark wood for contrast. There’s a good selection of seating in the room, including benches and low stools and a row of high tables with bar stools, especially in the bright left-hand side, which is properly opened out and felt a bit exposed, although the area to the rear right, past the end of the bar, has some partitioning walls still in situ and offered a cosier, darker alternative. The bar has a nice dark wood panelled counter front and mirrored bar back although the star of the show is definitely the colourful stained-glass canopy. A separate room to the front right has a much more traditional feel, thanks to some old carpeting, lots of dark wood beams and austere bench seating along two sides, with the servery running along a third side and a dartboard on the final wall. A TV screen was showing muted highlights from the day’s Olympics but otherwise the walls were decorated with a selection of brewery mirrors, including some for the in-house Lady Luck brewery. There was also a substantial pump clip collection, much of which had spilled across the aforementioned ceiling beams. To the rear of the pub, there is access to a beer garden, although I didn’t get around to exploring it myself, settling instead for a seat in the front bar, where a decent alternative rock soundtrack was playing.
One of Whitby’s more extensive ale ranges can be found here, with three from the on-site Lady Luck Brewery – Cursed Kraken, Black Cat Porter and Barmy Lemon – alongside Saltaire Blonde, Three Brothers The Bitter Ex, Cameron's Strongarm and Bowland Buster IPA. I tried a pint of the Cursed Kraken which was a bit past its prime and served up by a fairly brusque member of staff. There was a very good mid-week crowd in here, including a rowdy bunch of lads at the bar, making it feel a bit like a Friday or Saturday evening.
I thought this was quite a quirky place that ticked a fair few boxes for me. It may be a little too down to earth for some, but I enjoyed sitting in the front bar watching the locals come and go and could well see myself frequenting the place regularly if I lived here. I’ll let the dubious pint slide, as I suspect they may have overplayed their hand by having seven cask ales on in this post-lockdown climate, and would expect them to sort out the supply/demand balance as this becomes the norm. Definitely worth a look if you’re in town.

As you enter, the main room is to the left, with a tap room to the right and a further room to the right rear, Bar to the right with six hand pumps and also Old Rosie cider. I had an IPA @ 5.2% which was fine. Could come back here without a problem.

We must have caught this 2019 Good Beer Guide pub on a bad day. It was friendly and very busy, but I am sorry the two beer we had from their on site brewery Lady Luck were so poor we left one of them. Dream Catcher and Unicorn were the two beers. There was a decent selection on the bar so we just chose the wrong beers I suppose.

Great little pub with a wide selection of beers. When I visited there was Titanic Plum Porter, Daleside Old Legover, Roosters YPA, Theakstons Old Peculiar plus 2 from the on site Lady Luck brewery - Rabbit foot pale and Black Cat porter. This is on my must do list when in Whitby.

The Little Angel is set on a hill above Whitby. It's an open plan roughly L shaped room with a wooden floor. The CD jukebox is still there and there is a garden at the rear. Live Music, Karaoke and TV Sports are advertised but the only distraction on my visit was people playing stuff on the Juke Box.
I counted nine hand pumps which included three ciders. The ales were Half Moon F' Hops Sake, Turning Point Lucid Dream, 2 Bradfield Beers, a beer called Black Cat Porter and Cameron's Strongarm. I went for the Turning Point Lucid Dream (£2.90) which was quite a bit cheaper than the other pubs (with the exception of the JDW) and was in excellent condition.
This and the Station Inn were easily the two best pubs visited in Whitby but I wouldn't like to come here when Karaoke, Live Music or TV Sports were on. It was all downhill in more than one sense after this one. It's GBG 2018 listed.

Multi roomed charmer with 9 pulls from small breweries inc 2 ciders, probably best choice in Whitby. Lots of CAMRA awards attest to the quality. There's a Thirties feel to part of the place with varnished panelling and stained leaded glass, the spell is broken by modern gizmos like the big screen, CD juke box and a couple of machines. Traditionally furnished through out and there's a drinking yard at the back.

Semi-rock pub up hill from town with a community feel. Pleasant front bar & opened up captains lounge at rear and a basic larger bar area for sports. Laquered ceiling.

Not the most comfortable pub & probably better on the outside than you get inside but its nice enough & certainly serves a purpose & there are 7 real ales.

Been in on a number of occasions with my dog, found the staff both well mannered and always give her water. I was in the pub when the other reviewer s incident occurred, I think by the abusive and personal nature of the post you can see what " the fat barman " was attempting to deal with. The pub is dog friendly and I believe the offending cat has now left, great cask ales too.
