Sadly this pub was seriously damaged by a fire on Easter Sunday 2013 and will be demolished. Luckily the landlord and landlady made it out unscathed. A sad loss for the area.

What a great place! You may not know anybody when you first go in but by heck you will be made so welcome! A brilliant place in a wonderful setting. So cosy and friendly. In a wonderful position and everybody is so relaxed. Best not tell you about it as you may want to go yourself. Can't wait to go back.

Small but perfectly formed one room pub in a vaguely front room style with a good friendly Dales welcome. A stone building on a minor road between lower Wensleydale and Pateley Bridge, it stands on the rising ground before reaching the moorland proper making it popular with walkers, summer visitors to local caravan sites, regulars and tourists who come across it. Due to its location it opens evenings and weekends only. The small counter sits in one corner of the room and is only big enough for three pulls and founts for Guinness and Carling. Black Sheep bitter of course from nearby Masham plus Old Mill from the other end of the county, both in excellent condition. Bench seating round the room with square tables and chairs, the décor has a collection of pictures and caricatures plus some models of cars and motorcycles. Some furniture removals are required to play darts on the board above the open fire, which is very necessary in a Dales winter.
