Graham Coombs left this review about The Buck

A pretty average village pub, retaining a distinct two bar layout of a public bar, with pool and darts, and a slightly more upmarket lounge side. Both sides suffer from some rather tacky decor, including in the public side some bizarre tiles round the counter and an even more bizarre wall of plastic foliage above. Despite that, it was friendly enough and the ales were in good order, if not very excitingly Landlord, Black Sheep and Wainwright. Car park and garden to the rear, accessed from the road behind. Adequate.

Will Larter left this review about The Buck

A large and (to my mind) impersonal village pub. Maybe I just caught it at a bad time, but by comparison with my previous stop at the Wentworth in Old Malton it was quiet and the service was off-hand. There was background music playing, though any level of conversation would have made it ignorable; as there was only me, the barman and (apparently) his girlfriend present, there wasn't a lot of audible talk going on. The beer offering on the four hand pumps wasn't very inspiring either: Whitby Abbey Blonde, Abbeydale Moonshine, Tetleys Bitter and (ex-Thwaites) Wainwright; one generic pump clip with the word "Bland" would have covered all four, in my opinion. Looking on the bright side, at least the beer I had was in good nick, even if unmemorable.
