Blue Scrumpy left this review about Station Hotel

As you might guess, the Station Hotel is quite handy for the town's railway station, but it's a fair walk to the town centre from here.

Since the last review, handpulls have been removed and the Station no longer serves real ale. Keg options were limited John Smith's, Fosters, Guinness or Strongbow.

Doorways have some fairly impressive tiling and the high ceilings inside give it a fairly grand feel.

Nice building, but with no real ales, you'd have to have a long wait for a train to contemplate heading here for a drink.

Will Larter left this review about Station Hotel

This is a lovely old building, typical of station hotels up and down the country. Inside it has not been knocked about too much, though I didn't have time to explore beyond the main front room to the left as I had a train to catch. This is a light, airy room with a large bar counter and a fireplace. Although there are three hand pumps and a sign on the shelf saying "WE (red heart) CASK" there was only one real ale available, a rather tired Wadworth 6X. The lass that was serving informed me that real ales are discounted Mon/Tue/Wed, only £3 a pint (apparently it's £3.90 to £4.20 the rest of the week), and she also showed me the pump clip for the next beer to come on (something called Flying Hopsman, but I didn't catch the name of the brewery). I can understand why there is only the one beer - this pub is quite a walk from the town centre, though handy for the station - but with all the excellent Yorkshire breweries to choose from, why is a rather dull beer from Wiltshire on the bar?

Large many roomed pub. Two hand pumps - London Pride on both. Rest keg. Only me in the place which surprised me.

Old Boots left this review about Station Hotel

A large former railway hotel with an exuberant exterior built by a confident North Eastern Railway, their coat of arms are still displayed on the outside wall. Inside traces of its former grandeur remain in the public bar ceiling and architrave but otherwise much diminished. The main door is at one end and leads down a corridor to the public and lounge bars, there are also a couple of smaller rooms. The public is at the front and has a counter down almost the whole length of the room with tatty bench seating down the other, a couple of machines stand by the door and there's a big screen at the far end. Decoration is in the form of old enamel signs, some old radios and cigarette vending machines. Beers on the pumps are Tetley Cask, Black Sheep Bitter, Deuchars, and a reversed clip which may have been John Smiths cask or Theakstons, the quality was very good and this is a GBG listed pub.
