Old Boots left this review about The Otterington Shorthorn

Bland looking village pub a longish stone's throw from police HQ, it's GBG listed although I wasn't too impressed with my Black Sheep, the other choice was Theakstons Best on the three pumps. I did notice some Hambleton and Great Newsome casks weighting down the smoking tent in the rear yard. Basically it's one open plan room with a dining area down a step or two through an arch to the side, at the back is a pool table. Standard country pub décor with brasses, mugs, horse accoutrements and a gun. Traditionally furnished with tables and stools/chairs plus some bench seating, there are a couple of screens and a large pair of speakers at one end. Food is served as the aromas will testify, another village pub quietly getting on with serving its community.
