Very much a dining pub if not quite a full blown restaurant, we were conducted to our table and given menus after getting our drinks at the counter. There is a small non-dining room to the left on entering from the car park, a sure sign of the pub themed restaurant is often the lack of a front door, although this one is in the middle of nowhere so most punters will arrive by car. WhatPub does say casual drinkers are welcome. It’s a multi space affair with a number of dining areas in addition to the small lounge mentioned above, naturally all tables are pre-laid with cutlery and condiments. The counter is ahead and left from the entrance down a short corridor, there are three hand pumps with a reasonable Black Sheep Bitter and something from Pennine which I swerved as usual, nothing on the third and there are a couple of T-bars of keggy choices. It’s an older building as the photos show, but internally much modified and with a mix of exposed brick, plastered walls and tongue and groove, a couple of extensions have been added at the back. Tasteful water colours and prints as decoration, I could have lived without the, albeit subtle, modern jazz soundtrack.
