Circuit pub well described below. The pub was reasonably busy on my Saturday afternoon visit with punters watching United vs. Liverpool. Landlord was still the only real ale but it was in good nick. Perfectly ordinary boozer that does its job but that's probably all.

L-shaped room with the bar in the angle. Three hand pumps - only Taylor's Landlord on stream. Rest keg. Nothing special.

A basic old pub that was almost empty on a Saturday afternoon in September, this may have been down to the lack of service or perhaps to no food being served. There is a lot of vertical drinking space here, the open plan room is L shaped with a matching and very nicely carved counter, two handpumps, one with John Smiths Cask and the other a light up Black Sheep job, considering the lack of custom and the distracted bar man I stuck to bottled beer. One end is a comfortable bar area with bench seating in the bay and Britannia tables plus a screen and dart board, the longer arm of the L is supplied with tables and chairs. At the rear is a dining room although it contains a pool table. Almost everything in the pub is painted either black or white, the walls are white and all the furniture and woodwork is black. I suspect this is a more popular pub in the evenings with 18-30s but I was only in the town for the afternoon.
