Graham Coombs left this review about Bolton Arms

An imposing Georgian building overlooking the market place but the interior feels a bit gutted and too stripped back, presumably in search of modernity. A pair of open plan rooms at the front, a small area with a large sports screen behind the bar, and a pleasant restaurant area to the side. Large tabled terrace outside. Ales on were Wensleydale Semer Water and Morse Code, plus Black Sheep. Ok for a pint or two or for eating.

Old Boots left this review about Bolton Arms

A large stone built pub dominating the top of the Market Place, internally there are two bars, one across the full width of the front of the building and a second smaller one at the back containing a pool table, games machines and a few tables and chairs. There also appears to be a function room upstairs. The carpeted front bar is traditionally furnished with upholstered bench seating, tables and chairs to the left in front of the bar counter, at the far end there is a bay window which is very pleasant to sit in. To the right there are more dining styled chairs and tables as good value food is served, there is also a selection of leather armchairs and sofas plus a big open fire and a largish TV screen. A trio of well kept, Yorkshire brewed, handpulled ales from Theakstons, Black Sheep and John Smiths plus a fairly standard range of kegs, Guinness and Strongbow plus the smooth version of John Smiths and a variety of lagers from Becks, Carlsberg and Fosters are sold. A similar line up is available in the smaller back bar but there are only two hand pumps. Usual pub style décor, of plain walls decorated with some interesting pictures, prints and old photos of the locale. There are massive fake beams holding up the ceiling, probably concealing RSJs where older walls have been removed. The pub is dog and child friendly; although I visited at the wrong time of year to meet many tourists, most customers were locals of mixed age groups. Live music is played here on a regular basis.
