Real Ale Ray left this review about So Bar & Eats

This modern bar/eatery was busy on our Sunday afternoon visit, with the majority of their customers calling in for a bite to eat. The interior had plenty of natural light flooding in from the large shop front style windows. The colour scheme throughout was light and worked well with the timber furniture and trendy bar counter. Four chrome handpumps, we went for the Roosters YPA and a Copper Dragon. The beers were good, but their prices are on the high side.

This bar caters for the Knaresborough yummy mummys during the day and there were at least 4 pushchairs with babies when we called in. It's a typical girlie bar with large windows allowing people to see and be seen. It's very modern in decor with some high tables and stools along with some more standard dining tables. The surprise was the four handpumps on the bar. I had a pint of Roosters Farm House Bitter which was in good nick and the other half had a red wine from a large wine list. The food menu looked good as well, but as we were intending to eat in the Cross Keys we gave it a miss. It's not really my sort of bar, but the other half liked it. So I expect that we'll call in again next time we're in Knaresborough.

Old Boots left this review about So Bar & Eats

The name says it all, I believe it is actually rendered as “SO!, - bar and eats” rather than “sober and eats”, and that's what you get: a very nice bar with food. Four handpumps with London Pride, Deuchars, Moorhouses Blonde and Roosters YPA, I was torn between Lancs and Yorks but local boys Roosters won and I was not disappointed, a great pint. Two banks of keg fonts; one offering a less boring range from Europe including Leffe, Hoegaarden, Peroni and Staropramen; the other a more typical range with a smooth, Guinness and Blackthorn, lagers from Becks and Stella. Décor is modern, pastel shaded walls, tiled and parquet floors, sofas and low tables to one end with normal tables and chairs largely at the other and a few tall tables and stools in the middle. The staff were young and enthusiastic, the punters quite a mix of families, pensioners and bright young things although it was a lunchtime visit.

This pub/bar is just off the market place and the name put me off slightly, once inside there was a largish room with a tiled type floor and lots of tables and chairs i sat near the entrance where the tables were normal size.
There were three real ales on the bar which surprised me and i had a drink of Roosters Yankee and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Black Sheep bitter and Everards Tiger.
This place was very quiet on my visit and seemed a bit too bright but it was nice to see real ale being served in a bar like this.
