Will Larter left this review about The Groves Inn

I had just time for one more pub before my train, but when I got in here at around 5pm on a Saturday it was busy with people placing large orders and only one person working behind the bar, which is centrally placed in a large room with the kitchen directly behind it. There were three hand pumps, with Ossett Blonde the only beer on, and I didn't see anyone else drinking it. Given that I had spent half of my allotted 10 minutes waiting to be served, I decided to have a whisky, and spotted a bottle of Dalwhinnie on a shelf behind the bar. Without my glasses I couldn't read the card terminal screen, so it was a surprise to check my bank statement and find that I'd paid £6.50 for a 25ml measure.

Much as before except the pool table has gone to be replaced by tables and chairs. Three pulls out of four in operation, Wainwright, Ossett Blonde and Landlord, not sure how they managed to make the Wainwright taste of salt and vinegar but they did. Bar blockers aplenty as well on a Saturday visit.

An unequal U shaped bar with bench seating, tables and chairs and low Britannia stools, undistingushed but comfortable. Two features of note are the nice stained glass round the entrance and the columns on the bar painted in the style of Klimt. Otherwise a pedestrian beer choice of reasonably well kept John Smiths cask, or Old Speckled Hen plus the usual keg suspects although Sangres is more unusual than the others. There's a big screen but I didn't see any machines and a pool table sits at the back on the left side, the right hand side being set up for dining. There are also four rooms for B&B.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Groves Hotel

The Groves is on a shopping street in the middle of Knaresborough.
Once inside here the pub had been opened out into one room with different driking areas.
There were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Roosters Yankee and this as a very nice drink the other beers were Daleside Blonde and john Smiths cask.
The pub was comfortable enough and the beer was nice.
