Old Boots left this review about General Tarleton Inn

Very much a high end restaurant with beer, those being Black Sheep Bitter & Timothy Taylors Landlord, not badly kept but (very good) food and wine are the main attractions here. It is labelled as an Inn & Restaurant but the service and seating arrangements are decidedly unpubby, you will not be asked "are you dining with us today sir?" that is a given, you will be asked how many your table is for or when they're busy if you have a reservation. Housed in a much extended old building with lots of exposed stone and low beamed ceilings complemented with modern style furnishings and decor, it also has 13 letting rooms. Other than the name there is no pretence at being a pub or even a pub-themed restaurant and quite right too.
