A rather swanky modernised pub with designer furnishings and decor and a bit of a restaurant feel, but still catering for the locals. On handpump were Theakston's Best, Harrogate Pale and Copper Dragon Golden Pippin. Despite the focus on dining, this immediately felt comfortable and relaxing and somewhere you could spend the afternoon.

Reopened in March 2015 after a lengthy refurbishment in tasteful style with pastel shade walls and flag floors. Old photos, bottles and books provide the decoration. There are three distinct areas, on entering from the car park there is a sitting area with its own counter with a single pull and it's furnished with high stools and tables as well as low tables with sofas, arm chairs and stools. In the middle is the main bar which is used for informal dining and has the main counter with three more pulls and the usual clutch as national kegs. Down the side of the building is a more formal dining area. Filled with middle aged middle class lunchtime diners, the car park full of bigger more expensive vehicles almost all of which were badly parked, the service was lovely though.

A very nice little pub that was let down by bad service a party of 12 of us booked in advance ie food beer wine etc only to find main courses being delivered to the table very erratically - some people had finished theirs before others had even got theirs!! And this was despite food orders being phoned through a few days beforehand!A lovely place and the beers and the food were nice

The inside is quite unexpected after looking at the fairly conventional
outside. Inside is an odd collection of rooms. The front bar is
decorated to one side as an upmarket village inn with the usual horse
brasses and blackened timbers, the other is like stepping into someone’s
well appointed library. Comfy seats and open fires with formal dining set aside
in the “library”. A large range of kegged products, John Smith and
Tetley extra cold, Carlsberg, Fosters and 1664 lagers plus Strongbow cider and both versions of
Guinness. The beer side is rather let down by mediocre
Black Sheep and John Smiths cask. Reasonably priced drinks and food for
the area, friendly staff and locals, efficient service if a little
effusive. I was overcharged by £5 on my bill though.
