Good Beer Guide 2020.

Beautiful location - with a well guarded car park and beer garden. Building itself is characterful. Lunchtime food was decent.

Beer wise, the real ales are not on the bar - but there is a chalk board telling you what is on. I had a Lacon Blonde - which by the look of the head was a gravity fed barrel, rather than a hand pull. Result, a rather tasty, yet lifeless pint.

Cant fault the service - or experience.

A rather unfriendly village pub dating from the 17th Century. The building is interesting, being largely restored yet retaining much of its character. There is a sizeable garden and a paved terrace with tables and benches. Inside, there are two bar areas separated by a central bar counter plus a small snug with a sunken oche facing a well-used dartboard. There are no handpumps on the bar – ales are retrieved from the cellar. That there were almost no customers while the other pub in the village was heaving is testament to the attitude of the staff who were argumentative, unhelpful and would have been more at home in a remake of Straw Dogs or Deliverence than in a service industry. One in particular – not local to this hemisphere - explained that the reason our pint glasses appeared from the cellar only ¾ full was that ‘some people prefer to have the foam’. To be fair, the one ale we sampled – Dragon’s Den – was in reasonable condition though not perfect. Other ales on were JHB (Jeffrey Hudson Bitter), Doombar and GK IPA but it was such a hassle we couldn’t be bothered to make the effort to sample them. We won’t be forging our way back here anytime soon.

Have to say went to The Three Horseshoes for lunch mid-week the menu was diverse my husband had sirloin steak which he really enjoyed his dessert he quote 'ooohhhhhhhh fantastic', it was apple crumble/custard. I had a fish dish which also was so tasty, my dessert of roulade was truly rummy. The food and service was excellent, we were not rushed. Was so impressed we are going with the family again. Compliments to the chef..
