A trendy bistro with some sort of Michelin guide listing, well populated with 'ladies who lunch' at time of visit. The left hand side with the bar seems more focussed on drinkers and the Ossett Blond and Theakstons Best on handpump seemed in good condition. Ok if you are in the right mood but I wouldn't spend a session here.

A total makeover has removed the last vestiges of Scruffy Murphy and its successors, only a counter remains in the same place along with some of the architraves. Large windows and modern but matching furniture has replaced the old stuff. To the left is the bar area while the right side, consisting of two spaces, is designated and furnished as a restaurant. The beer quality from two pulls, both Theakstons, has at least improved to drinkable but not much beyond, a selection of national kegs including Beaver Town Gamma Ray are available on a horse shoe and a couple of singles. Pricing reflects its new found status, £4 for Theakstons Best, however this is Harrogate. It's ever so slightly up its self.

This pub is much better when you're inside looking out rather than outside looking in. You can still see remnants of its dark Scruffy Murphys past, but it's now a comfortable lounge/sports bar. 5 large screen TVs around the pub and a pool table/quiz machine at the rear. Four handpumps on the bar serving fairly standard beers for the area but my pint of Copper Dragon Golden Pippin was in good condition. Very busy on a late Sunday afternoon, but no problem getting served. I think we'll probably call in again when in this part of town.

Not as bad as it looks as it's a former Scruffy Murphy's. Dark wood furniture and bar counter, bare boards in the middle and carpeted round the outside of the room. Big clear windows looking out onto the Stray and restrained décor in a single open plan room. Good balance of seating and standing room, with a pool table at the back. Usual range of keg stuff, John Smiths Smooth, Tetley Smooth, Carlsberg, Stella, Guinness and Strongbow, four hand pumps dispensing Pedigree, Tetleys Cask and Black Sheep Bitter, my BSB was pretty nasty – cold, thick and green. For those interested in pub architecture there are still some fine architraves and two very nice stained glass windows behind the pool table.

This is a decent looking pub and once inside this seemed quite a decent pub, there was only one real ale on here this was Tetley bitter and this drink was not that good and was getting close to becoming vinegar.
The pub was almost empty late monday afternoon.
