Still doing table service and masks, yawn. Anyway this quasi-pentagon shaped place feels like it has gone a bit upmarket since my first and only visit 13 years ago. Some undressed brick and herringbone flooring in the interior. 10 ales on pump which immediately made me wonder and inevitably my Green Jack Summer Dream was awful (NBSS 0.5), taken back and grudgingly taken off. The replacement of Wild Card Pale didn't really clear (2) and was a tad warm. Too many beers, not enough throughput and ropey cellar management. Poor.
Visited early August.

A large imposing pub when you first spot it; doesn’t immediately scream “real ale quality” but venture on inside and you’ll find up to ten real ales including a good number of local brews. Wine is pushed heavily here and there is also real cider available (Kingfisher). Shows sport and is popular with Canaries fans (the landlord is apparently one himself). I liked it. Rated 8

Date of visit - April 2013

To the south west of the City Centre, but reasonably close to the bus station, is The Trafford Arms, a large street corner community local.

A prominent, curved, exposed brick frontage leads into a large single bar pub, but with a distinct dining area on the left and a more basic public bar feel area on the right with a large screen TV in one corner and a snooker table. It’s comfortably furnished and carpeted to give a warm welcoming feel throughout.

A framed photo shows the pub after it had been bombed during the Second World War. A circular dark red plaque tells us that it was a Famous Grouse Pub in 2011. A party night on Saturday 17 August was advertised featuring live music, to celebrate the landlord’s 20 years here. It’s clearly a well established community orientated local.

On my early April Tuesday evening visit, the pub was well patronised with a good mix of diners and drinkers. My Moroccan Lamb Burger - £ 7.95p – was well presented, tasty and arrived promptly.

10 real ales were on, which included beers from Caledonian, Elgoods, Woodfordes, Adnams and Greene King plus, notably Thornbridge Jaipur IPA - £ 3.90p. It’s a CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular.

Like a good number of recommended Norwich pubs, it’s outside the ring road and you won’t therefore come across it by accident, but it’s worth seeking out.

Another gem and should not be missed. This large welcoming pub has great food, plus ten ales on handpump. They were hosting their Annual Beer Fest in a marquee out the back on our visit, serving some superb ales. I enjoyed their ales on offer in the bar just as much as the festival, so will defo return.

This 2013 Good Beer Guide pub is a short walk from the centre and is very popular due to its good choice of real ales on offer. We enjoyed Salopian Inquisition and Holdens Killer Queen at our visit. It is also a good community pub with quiz nights and a beer festival to raise money for charity.

This pub does'nt look that good from the outside but once inside here there is a good choice of beers and the pub was packed on a Saturday afternoon,i had a drink of Elgoods Cambridge Bitter and this was a decent drink There was also Woodfordes Wherry and Tetley bitter on i did'nt get to see all the other pump clips.
I thought this was a decent pub and i would like to have a look and drink when it is a bit quieter.
