Bucking Fastard left this review about The Red Lion

Large riverside pub with a terrace with views across the Wensum. It's open plan with the L shaped drinking section first with a large banquette with small tables and traditional furniture elsewhere. There are sports flatscreens and the large picture windows give a lot of natural light. The far end seems more for dining and the food was popular with family groups and older folk.
The ale options on my trip were Moon Gazer Triskelle,Wolf Mad Wolf,Humpty Dumpty Swallow Tail,Vocation Bread & Butter (NBSS 3.5) and Adnams Ghostship. With a lively atmosphere and a decent ale range it's worth including on any real ale tour and the location is a big plus.

Moby Duck left this review about The Red Lion

Large riverside pub, inside the room wraps around a central servery on three sides, there is also a fair amount of outside seating overlooking the Wensum. Six handpumps on the bar and all were in use, S7P Darkest Hour, Hammerton N1, Lacons Encore, Amperstand Pulpit Pale, Adnams Ghost Ship and ELB pale which was in good shape. A solid beer selection and a pretty solid pub but I found things here a little too prim and proper to really warm to it, worth a look though.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Red Lion

Solid detached building, housing a rectangular main bar with a small side seating area and a conservatory overlooking the river. Dark decor and traditional furniture. Side patio terrace adjacent to the historic Bishop's Bridge. Just three of six handpumps was working when I visited: Wherry, Summer Lightning and Earl Soham Gannet dark mild (£3.20). Nice spot. (NB - Review dates from August 2012.)

Real Ale Ray left this review about Red Lion

Within an easy walk from either the Cathedral of from the train station. Serves well kept ales and also promotes their handmade 12" pizzas priced around £8, so maybe on our next visit we might check them out. Has good views from the large sash windows. Five ales on offer, I went for the Earl Soham and Grain Brewery 316.

Alan Winfield left this review about Red Lion

The Red Lion is a stand alone pub that is situated next to bishops bridge and the River Wensum.
Once inside there was a large L shaped room which was carpeted and had normal tables and chairs, there was a small dining area to the rear right which had a tiled floor, there was also a consevatory off this area, this room had good views over the river.
There is plenty of outside seating with picnic tables at the front and side which overlooks the river.
There were three real ales on the bar with three pumps with their clips turned round,i had a drink of Humpty Dumpty Little Sharpie and this was a really nice well kept beer, the other beers were Woodforde's Wherry and Grants 3.1.6.
The pubs decor seemed a bit tired, but i still enjoyed my time here.
