Will Larter left this review about The George & Dragon

This classic pub has now reverted to the George & Dragon, a motif that is repeated in many places: above the entrance in a double frieze; in a stained glass window; and in a beautiful mirror (see photos), yet the name high on a gable is The George. The building is on a gentle curve in the road, and this dictates the shape of the pub, which has three rooms in a line, starting with the bar. Everything has been either restored or renovated to a high standard (again, see photos), with plenty of art works on the off-white walls, and is being run by a group of young people with professionalism and pride. There were two real ales available, Woodforde's Wherry and one called Wild Eye Intriguing Pale from Wildcraft Brewery near Norwich. My notes made at the time say this was in very good condition. The pub was a very pleasant place to sit with a beer, admiring the copper fireplace and the triptych mirror. It was light and airy in the spring sunshine, the only downside being having to leave to catch my bus back to Sheringham.

E TA left this review about The George Hotel

An impressive Georgian hotel, formerly the George and Dragon. There is limited parking, and the pub still offers accommodation. The downstairs has been renovated and now consists of two bars and a dining room; dogs are not allowed in the latter. The décor is fresh, the rooms are large and airy and the floors are boarded. The landlord was a bit gruff, but he was hospitable nonetheless. Two ales on draft, Bo66y and Morland’s Bitter, both in reasonable condition. We chose not to eat as there was a ‘discretionary’ 12.5% service charge on all food orders, which was over and above the already high prices. Looking at other people’s meals, the high prices weren’t warranted. OK for a pint if passing.

A fine pub that manages to cater for all types of drinker and eater. Imaginative menu mostly locally sourced. One of the few pubs to sell Peter Yetman's beers on draught and it's well worth a sample. Yetman's beer is brewed in nearby Holt and is also available locally in bottles.

Very good upmarket pub. Real ales and good food served. Beer garden across the road.
