There were signs at the entrance of this over 23s pub that indicated a strict entry policy where everyone would be asked for ID to check for age by the bouncers. This and the stage area set up with music equipment led me to believe that this is a late night venue popular when the pubs have closed. The furniture is sparse with a few barstools, some sofas and a couple of small tables and there is also a pool table around to the left hand side of the bar. I spotted a dartboard case on the wall, but instead of an oche there was a high table and there was a fixture list on the wall for the local pool league, but not darts so I doubt there is a board in it. However, There is a plasma screen for showing Sky Sports, but as there was nothing on during my Thursday morning visit an episode of ‘Cops on Camera’ was being shown to the delight of a couple of locals sitting at the bar.

There are no hand pumps here leaving only a standard draught range, but the Guinness was actually very good and the manager was polite enough in an offhand kind of way.

Some outside seating in the form of picnic tables, some of which are covered, can be found to the side of the pub.

Since my visit two weeks ago this pub has been marked as closed on this site. This doesn’t bode well as on my way out I noticed a planning application form in the window requesting a full demolition of the premises and the building of a new restaurant with flats on the site.

Does not sell real ale at the moment but have been informed by the landlord that they will be doing so in about 2 weeks time
