Steve C left this review about The Red Lion

The Red Lion has gone the way of far too many pubs and been turned into a Tesco Express.

I'm not sure if this place is still called ‘The Red Lion', which is written on the wall outside, or ‘Filthy's' which is on the pub signs hanging outside.

Back in the early nineties I used to drink here every afternoon after a Thai Fok lunchtime special from next door. The two pool tables are still present, but the dartboard has disappeared along with most of the natural light. It is now primarily a music venue and I'm not sure if it is worth visiting when there is no band on, unless you fancy a game of pool. There is a room with no seating and a big TV at the back that leads to a paved beer garden with some covered and uncovered seating.

I spotted Greene King IPA and some standard lager behind the bar. It took a while to be served as the barman had to finish his chat with one of the regulars, even though I was standing right next to him.

I'm not really into the live music scene so I doubt there will be a return visit.
