Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Moon & Sixpence (JD Wetherspoon)

Early Wetherspoon's, with all the usual features - dark wood interior, mix of tables and booths, etc. - that could be in Anytown. Having said that, it is the only pub for some distance and appears to be popular and well run. Also has a reasonably sized patio at the back. Fair choice of real ales from eight of nine handpumps, including Sambook's Brown Dog Riot (£2.49).

A JDW which was more welcoming than many and which has a cosy atmosphere than some – it certainly isn't either barn-like or industrial as many of them are. There are two rooms, carpeted, and there is a small garden at the back. Most of the staff were pleasant, though one appeared moribund – so much so that we were put off the food due to her proximity to it. There were 4 ales on, I had a pint of Ninkasi Cream Ale, which was much too cold, much too gassy and rather tasteless. I don't see my rushing back other than for a mid-crawl pitstop.

This is an older Spoons (opened 1991) and it shows as it is much smaller than normal and has a much more pubby atmosphere than most. There appeared to be some sort of garden at the far end of the building and despite being (presumably) a shop conversion has plenty of natural light.
It's in one of those small parades of shops that can be found all over Metroland rather than the likes of the ghastly Watford High Street. The cheery girl behind the bar was enjoying some playful banter with the coffin dodging clientele.

There were eight pumps going and I went for the Banks and Taylor SOS at £2.25 even though the price displayed was £2.40. It was in excellent nick.

This would seem to be the only pub in this area as the Letchford Arms (over half a mile away) is said to have closed last year.

This was far and away the best of the four Spoons visited on the day.

A smaller Spoons than usual with a secluded beer garden.A fair range of guest ales on offer with the Brewdog Trashy Blonde being very very bitter and in top form(wish they would brew more of this on cask)5 mins from Hatch End railway station.
