I hadn't visited here for over 10 years and I never realised what a small Spoons it is. We were amongst the first customers when we called for breakfast. 4 ales on which were London Brewing Table Beer, ELB pale ale and 2 from the Mad Squirrel brewery - Resolution and Gold. We tried 3 of them and they were fine. Not a bad pub and handy for the tube station.

Very much an old-fashioned Spoons, complete with a particularly old-fashioned clientele, unless it was pension day or something. Rather smaller than the large frontage suggests, with one L-shaped room round the bar. A few pavement tables outside act mainly as the smoking area. Despite only having the one set of 6 handpumps, it shows a good interest in beer with a sign proclaiming 1310 ales sold last week, whatever than means. On at time of visit were two from Vale, a festival beer and Truman Runner plus Doom Bar and Abbot, and seemingly in good order. A fridge full of craft is also available.

This seems quite a busy JDW but that could be due to the small size, as others have noted. Unfortunately the beer selection mirrors the physical dimensions. 6 pumps but only 4 on, and two of those are Doom Bar and Abbot. Not very exciting, but looking around most punters are on keg. Decent place though and service was efficient and friendly. It was closed a few weeks ago for a refurb.

Teeny single room Spoons (is this the smallest in the JDW estate?) on a negligible split-level interior. White, vanilla and ‘Chambourcy Mousse’ (says my notes) colour scheme. Five ales with three proper guests and no issues with my pint of Salopian Gold and Tring Tea Kettle Stout. A decent all-round Spoons on this showing.

Visit 27/11/2014

With some London Spoons seeming to be ramping up their prices it was nice to find one where the prices have been reduced. I had two pints here today from the Twickenham Brewery (Grandstand and Decade) both at £1.99 a pint. The Itchen Valley Russian Winter which is stronger was £2.15 and all three were in great nick. It's easy to see why this one remains GBG listed in a part of London with few decent pubs.

Visit 01st June 2013

I returned to this pub after a gap of twenty years at which time I was doing the Fullers 200 Passport and was returning from legging it up Harrow Hill to visit the Castle.

On that occasion it was mid evening and this place was pretty well rammed but what I failed to notice was how small this Spoons is. I don't recall visiting one smaller than this ever, even by normal pub standards it would not be regarded as large.

Given the size it was hardly surprising that there were only six pumps. I went for the local option which was Twickenham Naked Ladies at £2.15 which was in great form.

Why this place would need weekend bouncers may say more about Harrow Town Centre than the pub itself.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Moon On The Hill (JD Wetherspoon)

Nothing like as big as you would expect from the frontage, with an 'L'-shaped bar inconveniently divided with a two-step split-level arrangement. Usual furniture and decor. Beer-wise, five of the six handpumps were working on my latest visit, but these included several International Real Ale Festival beers such as Adnams 1659 Smoked Ruby at a bargain £1.99. I didn't enjoy my previous visit three years ago (also on a Sunday afternoon), but I thought it rather better this time.

I've drunk here for over 20 years , seen lots off different management , some good some very bad. its a spoons training pub so they send us the crap staff and they a serve poor beer most of the time .. recently they have started putting doormen on at the weekends. these ill bred , surly ,youth go out of there way to make drinking in here at the weekend as unpleasant an experience as they can . i will stop frequenting here at the weekends just to avoid these virgins at the door because they are unprofessional and rude. i recommend you do also.

This is not the biggest Spoons that I have been into, but it was the busiest as my visit coincided with the FA Cup semi and this place was heaving with Villa fans. There was a good atmosphere and I was surprised that I was served as quickly as I was because the bar was six deep. To the right of the bar there is a sunken area full of seating and there are a couple of plasma screens at each end of the pub, but unsurprisingly no Sky Sports.

This is not a pub to go out of the way for, but I think that the general quality of the Wetherspoons chain has improved and I would pop back in again if passing.

A small Wetherspoon's that had a good range of real ales but then again it was the beer festival.
