As the previous poster says, this is indeed a hotel. However, the bar (The King's Bar) is open to the public, and has a separate entrance from the car park (i.e. you don't have to go through the hotel reception to access the bar). It's a typical hotel bar, being carpeted and with comfortable (some might say) furnishings of solely armchairs and sofas without a normal table and chair in sight. There's now no real ale available; I saw just Peroni, Carlsberg and Guinness taps.

If you like well appointed hotel bars with with just fizzy beer available, then this will suit you.

What's this doing here ?. This is a hotel not a pub.
Granted it has a lounge bar (The Kings Bar) that is open to non residents, and is comfortable, serves decent bar food and serves at least one ale (Draft Bass if I remember correctly from my last visit).
But I can't see why you would visit if you're not staying here or waiting for your table in the upstairs restaurant.
That's unless your idea of a fun evening is to spend it amongst drunk hotel guests who have been using the function rooms or residents who haven't enough nouse or enthusiam to walk down the road to The Ridgeway Tavern.
