Roadside Marstons pub on the edge of a roundabout. At some point extended and opened out inside with two distinct areas. Sky sports is available with several screens in evidence. Four handpumps on the bar and all Marstons owned beers on offer,Pedigree, Saddle Tank, Hobgoblin and Hobgoblin Gold, per chance I visited on a Monday and was delighted to find all cask beer on that day of the week is £2.75, unfortunately the Saddle Tank proved to be a typically uninspiring Marstons beer. A place to come if you want to watch live football and or have a cheap meal, I'm unlikely to return.

KINGS HEAD: not many people review this pub. I was in watching the 'footy' the other evening, and for mid-week the pub was quite busy. There were NO seats available. Which I suppose is good for business, but NOT good if you've been on your feet for 10 hours and you want to sit down +relax with your pint !! Staff are generally quite good & efficient (much better than the pub down the road, the ASH TREE...where you have to wait 7 minutes, or longer..! to be served)! I'm not having a go, I'm just pointing out the logistics, if you only have limited time available. KH beats AT hands down every time for 'service'. The food is probably better in the KINGS HEAD than the Ash Tray aswell. I still think the 'bar area' needs to be made bigger somehow, to accommodate more patrons, and to make it slightly more comfortable for the current customer-base. (At the weekend you could hardly walk thru' the bar without spilling someone's drink!) :o(

Marstons is the brew of choice here, in the second BEST pub in Ashford. You can watch live sport here (3x screens) in the long thin bar with a pillar in the middle (so you can't see all 3 screens at once). They still have that massive restaurant area at the back, which must take up 50 percent of the floor space (maybe more..) which doesn't seem to get full usage. I think the long thin bar needs enlarging, to allow more folk in. When the footy is on, the bar gets full up, and many customers must be put off and go elsewhere (the Kings Fairway...!) for a quieter drink. Staff to note. With NO pub in Ashford high street now (about 4 years...!), the Kings Head is missing a trick and should double the size of the bar area, maybe treble it! Why has management not realised this...??!! Make some room, put some comfy armchairs & sofas in, increase the number of tables (for drinking, not 3-course meal) make a "sports" area separate from a "comfy" area, and watch the customer base grow. Or am I sucking eggs here...??!! TJ

Spacious local, with a couple of Marstons handpulls (Pedigree and Bitter) served too cold but otherwise in good condition. Food is available in a big (and empty) restaurant room. This could be a good place but has the classic faults - too smoky (despite the extractor fan being on) and the TV usually vying with the jukebox for the attention of your eardrums. Pub has a golf team, which is an interesting touch. Not bad but could be a lot better with a few simple changes.
