An excellent little old pub, as the previous reviewer commented not what you would expect in the area at all. Really atmospheric, with a dark stone-floored, stone-walled interior decorated with a collection of old artefacts and divided into several separate areas. Furnishings include some unusual padded benches, while the little bar at the back had a good range of ales: Black Lodge Shake Hands, Make Friends, Liverpool Cascade, Titanic Plum Porter, Brains Rev James and Theakstons Best. Definitely worth a visit.

Not at all what I was expecting, stone built, dak inn on split levels, low ceiling, you could be in a Cornish or Pembroke country inn. Good all round pub

Lovely old worldy pub. Very little natural light gets into here and sometimes it can seem claustraphobic. However it is a really good old pub. No tv or loud music to stop people having a good old conversation. Bare stone walls surround the interior and a rather cramped area is opposite the bar. A pleasant beer garden is to the rear which contains a fish pond. Sadly the pond is usually quite murky so its difficult to see the fish. 4 real ales usually on.
