Little change from the previous review. On this occasion the two hand pumps were clipped but unavailable when we asked. the pub has a back street local vibe where the locals turn around as you walk in, but in a friendly way. One man even remarked bluntly ‘I don’t know who you are’ as he walked to the toilets! it’s a bland affair with sports TV, pool table etc. - i hope it sticks around as I do like this kind of pub.

A back street boozer just outside the town centre and up the road from The Cricketers. This is a multi-roomed pub and is fairly bland. Lots of banquette seating and there is a pool table next to the bar. The bar has two serveries and two handpumps can be found on the pool table side. Two reversed clips featuring Doom Bore and George Wright Pipe Dream on my visit. The pub is fine bit if you're after real ale the recently voted Camra National Pub Of The Year Cricketers is 100 yards away.

Re openned before Christmas after a massive refurbishment, if youve ever been in before you wont recognise the place. Its had a new lay-out and extension and looks light fresh and modern, howerver still retains a traditional feel. Massive beer garden with smoking area, seating and BBQ areas. Weekly entertainment, look out for the monthly theme nights from the photos they look a real hoot. pool table, dart board, and monthly quiz for £1000 prize

Wendy the manager has told me about some great developments in the Pub since my last visit,computer/internet available groceries and take-away beers available and eat in or take-away pizzas now being sreved were can you get a 10" meat feast pizza for only £3.95 the Golden Lion of course.....
