Reopened after a sympathetic refurb by Robinsons. There's a small wood panelled snug with a fire on the left hand side as you enter and traditional bench seating around the outside of the rest of the room. Five handpumps on the bar serving Unicorn & Dizzy plus two Titanic beers from Robinsons guest portfolio. The fifth had a real cider on it. My pint of Titanic Steerage was in good nick and we had a friendly chat with the landlord in the afternoon. Called back in later that evening after we'd eaten by which time both of the Titanic beers had gone. The Dizzy Blonde was also in good nick though. This is now a very good pub and well worth a visit. WhatPub says they're open until 11 on a Tuesday, but they were definitely getting ready to close at 10 as they were quiet.

Closed on Sunday at 21:30 and looked like it had been all day if not longer. The long serving landlady has now left. No idea what is going on here as staff at both The Guest House and Tap & Bottles didn't know it was closed.

a fine example of a traditional pub in Southport’s town centre, small and perfectly formed. Very well refurbished by Robinsons with the wood panelled room to the left of the entrance particularly nice. 60s music playing, to the bafflement of the young lady behind the bar!. Two Robinsons ales on in good condition, Dizzy Blonde and Trooper. Can’t believe I have never been here before - would definitely revisit in winter when the fire would be very cosy.

A good friendly traditional pub this one. Within mins we were chatting away with the regulars. The pub consisted of the main bar on the right of entry and a small snug on the left, with a lit fire and to the rear a few tables and banquette seating. This is a Robinsons house with five handpumps. There were three Robinsons beers on handpump, no guest beers on this visit, so I went for the Unicorn.
