This was my second stop in Formby on a midweek visit and it was another disappointment.

An Ember Inns establishment near to the railway station. But as with most Ember Inns, their beer range has deteriorated over the past few years. The 4 fairly standard real ales on offer were Black Sheep Best Bitter & Twilighter, St Austell Tribute & Timothy Taylor Landlord. They do not stock a real cider.

There is a large car park to the side of the pub, alongside the railway line. Inside was the typically bland Ember Inns interior. Although it was reasonably busy with a mix of diners and drinkers.

Tucked away in the shadow of the railway bridge by the station, I thought the Railway had a curiously bland appearance from the outside, but it transpires this is a back entrance! Inside it is pure Ember Inns with their usual clean, bright furnishings. The layout is perhaps a little jumbled, arranged around a central bar but with various odd corners. The cask ales seemed to be mainly national brands, with one or two locals, but condition was fine.

A decent sized pub, close to Formby train station. This Ember Inns pub has recently been refurbished both outside and in. The exterior is now painted in a modern grey colour and the word Free House is painted along the side of the pub. The interior is modern and up go date with comfortable seating areas, around an L shaped bar. Five ales on handpump, So I went for the Adnams Ghost Ship which was in excellent condition and only cost £2.49 a pint on Mondays, which is their cask ale club day.
The pub also has a good food menu and it was quite busy with diners on my visit.

Called in around 1pm on a Tuesday and found the pub doing a roaring trade in particular the beer garden but then again I think it was the hottest day of the year so far.I found the pub clean and tidy and the bar staff friendly and if in the area again will call in.
There were 5 cask beers on show and although there was probably better choices tried a pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord

This is an Ember Inns pub right next to the station. It has the usual Ember Inn furnishings and is an open plan L-shaped room. Real ales available. A beer patio is to the front. The rear entrance faces the station.
