A couple of years back in 2010, Punch Taverns applied for planning permission to build housing on the site of this pub.
Fortunately it was rejected by Cambridge Council so they kept it going as a pub.
Although a fairly standard estate pub it has improved in recent years, primarily by the Landlord focussing on selling real ale and five guest beers from the Punch Taverns list were regularily available.
Unfortunately it closed in December 2011 when the landlord declared himself bancrupt after receiving a £12K tax bill.
And those community caring people at Punch took no time at all to sell the pub to a developer for £865K.
So another planning application for housing is to be expected and lets hope the Cambridge Council have the balls to reject this one as well.
